My advice: get Bad Behavior, and turn on the strict mode

If you run a WordPress self-hosted blog, you need Bad Behavior. It's a must-have plugin, and it'll get rid of tons of internet scum. You need this essential part of your internet warfare toolkit. There's even a way to make it more effective.

I'm totally aghast. For no apparent reason, this site is under a constant attack by scrappers looking for email addresses and open comment sections to spam. This site has exactly 0 of both of those, yet it's a constant thing here at MacStansbury.com.

Over the past year, I've posted exactly 0 email addresses, and 0 comments. The last time anybody on the Earth could leave a comment on MacStansbury.com was March of 2005. Not a single scrapper was hitting the site back then, but now? Now?

Do you people not read? THERE'S NOTHING TO GET! Then again, it is spammers we're talking about, and they're ridiculously stupid, evil people to begin with. 30% of my reasoning for no comments was just for losers like this.

Luckily, everybody else on the planet thinks like me. There's a ton of ways to combat said services, including Bad Behavior. In fact, I love it so much that I devote about a post a month just to singing its praises. In this month's episode, Strict Mode:

Check the box, and whatever it does, it does. I noticed as soon as I put that in, the bots and other visitors (including "Yahoo") disappeared. This, I dig. It might cut out some legitimate visitors, but I'm willing to take the risk, and you should too.
