Back when I introduced John's GTD app, I wanted to be part of this ongoing community of people who are getting things done. In my zealotry, I rushed out an announcement for a product that is, after almost two months, not available for download or sale anywhere. It was a mistake, and I'd like to say I apologize for my mistake.

I was thinking about this Saturday, as I was working in the app. I cleared some tasks that I finished, and I thought about how I was probably the only one using this thing. Without a public release, nobody was able to use it, right?

Actually, I do know I'm the only one using this particular app, since it rarely leaves my left pants pocket. It's part of my setup, every morning, whenever I get ready, to have keys in right pocket, app in left, pen in right-side pocket. My wallet goes in my right back pocket, and my phone goes either in the cargo pants side-pocket thing, or in my left pocket, in front. I have one of those belt-clips, but I rarely use it.

Having a routine way of storing things in your pants (no jokes) makes it easier to realize when you're missing something. And, sitting in a restaurant, waiting for my order, I took the free time to update my app. As I was updating, I thought about how I'd built in a routine for updating, something I'd add to the running commentary about the app.

But the most important thing is, I haven't released it to the public.

I mean, you could easily build one yourself, using an 80 sheet, 160 page, 4.5 by 3.25 inch (11.4 by 8.2 cm) ruled notebook. Then you put in the codes and stuff, like I said before. It ain't really rocket surgery, people.

But, no, you need a beta or the like. Until I produce that, all you've got it vaporware.
