One week only! Here's the thing: you buy 8 shareware applications for $49, and 25% is donated to charity. And with the purchase of those 8 applications, you get them for over 80% off. Ya. And it gets even better! If enough people buy the bundle, and more money is given to charity, it will "unlock" two more apps, at two different levels. You don't have to do anything, just hope that enough people buy the darn things that you get the freebies. And since there's only one week to do it, you have to act fast! Aaaaand...that's where it starts to break down. The so-called premium applications. One is NewsFire, and the other is TextMate. While I have no need for NewsFire, I'd love to get me that sweet, sweet TextMate - I mean, I love ya TextWrangler, but daddy needs a new development tool. Come on, big cash! Big prizes! Nooooooo Whammies! And stop! See where I'm going with this? Seems a bit contrived to me, but it's as good an opportunity as I'll see, for now. Regardless of the outcome, I'll get some tools I need, whether the extra prizes come in at all.

Justifications

I noticed it right off the start: Delicious Library. As you know, I have a thing for del.icio.us, even though this is something completely different. For a couple of years now, I've been trying to justify getting this application. I've got an entire library what needs cataloging, yet I've found it incredibly indefensible my throwing $40 at it. However, now I've found somewhat of a reason to purchase it, as the huge discount implied, this cheapskate now has a license to Delicious Monster. This one application was, in fact, the reason to buy the bundle. The rest of the applications are nice (including the arcade game I'll be wasting the night on), but no killer apps. In fact, the only killer app was TextMate, and that's only through divine providence. One thing this does do, however, is give me something to play around with. I use an old program called iSnip that saves my clipboard files, and has disappeared off the internet, so iClip 4 holds some interest. The other applications do the same thing - the hold some interest, but I'd never pay for any of them by themselves. Only through the bundle like this would I spend money.
