I used to write something every week called Friday Spoilers. I was thinking about it, and so I cracked open iCal to see if there was anything of value. Well, anything worth making fun of. Yowzers. I really feel for the MPAA. Seems that people aren't going to movies as much any more. So...here's the spoiler: STOP MAKING REMAKES!!! Honestly, do we need a remake of The Honeymooners? All I can hear about is how The Dukes of Hazard is going to be the best movie of all time. And don't get me started on that Herbie movie. They digitally downsized Lindsey Lohan's rack. That's a spoiler in itself! A tragedy, more like it. It seems that we've got a culture in cinema that's going to make movies so that somebody gets paid a lot of money. The target is the Summer Blockbuster. That's a horrible idea. I remember in 1989 when Batman was being touted as the big Summer Blockbuster. It was as if the movie companies expected you to show up when they made a big, expensive movie. It's only gotten worse with all the special effects. It took 7 years to get The Lord of the Rings trilogy from start of production to the final product. Contrast that with Star Wars Episode III, which only had 55 filming days. The rest was eye-candy special effects. And it was...kinda...dull. Lileks needed to be there with his rewrite

Re: the Clone Army tactics. Let’s review: the enemy lives in a pit. A hole – in - the- ground. Do you a) MOAB the joint from space, followed up by gigantic shrapnel-dispersing bombs that shred the robot army, followed by a few big EMP bursts just to be sure nothing works, or B) send the troops into the hole to engage in firefights with the robots – who are fighting on their home turf and dug into a strategically superior defensive position. Added note: YOU’RE EVIL. So it’s A. Ah, you say, they weren’t evil yet. This was before the army turned, so they had to act like they gave a crap about the white-faced woody-headed people with the sideways teeth.

What people want to see is great acting, believable stories, and exciting, well, stuff. Not just gimmicky things like a 3-D version of SpyKids or something like that. To sum up what I'm saying, we all think that the movie makers are putting out stuff that isn't that interesting. I mean, sure, we all want to see Angela and Brad shooting the crap out of each other, but don't expect us to see it twice.
