Did you know that the default instillation of Movable Type weighs in at around 9 megabytes? How about Textpattern? A very light 1.1 MB.

I mention this, because I've had a while to think over the systems I use here at MacStansbury.com, and how I generate content. It was this picture, and the story I was writing to explain it, that got me to do what I did:

Splice feeds

That's 4 link services, a clipping service, and Digg. It would work fine if I used either Digg or Bloglines, but I don't, so they don't do me any good. I would have to create my own service, then splice the Ma.gnolia links onto that.

Since del.icio.us and Ma.gnolia are redundant, I've shut down the del.icio.us posting, for now. I shut down the Miniblog posting, too, until I figured out that I wanted to post more than just 256 characters all the time.

What's amazing is that I've gone back to where I started: I used Miniblog to start my Daring Fireball-copying ways, and now I'm back there because none of the things I left for happened:

1. Nobody ever searches the old links. Ever. They're practically disposable.
2. Nobody goes through the archives of links. That's a waste of resources.
3. Ma.gnolia is a social network, and the only reason I'm bookmarking there is to promote other people's work. With a linkness is, and has always been, mine.

The post title was a sly reference to my additional posting time, now three times daily. I thought I'd use it to showcase me, for a change. Paradoxically, now I can promote me, inside the linkness feed, without promoting the site elsewhere. I've taken shameless self-promotion to a whole new level.
