Always has been, always will be.

I figure it's time I gave you an idea of what you're looking at, here at MacStansbury.com. It is my personal site, and it's a gateway to the internet. I'm hoping that I'm at least mildly amusing, providing a little snark as you enter into that big, bad information superhighway.

Think of it as a linkblog. With a linkness is my homage to all the great things go on in this great big world of ours. Mostly tech-related, but always topical. It's about what is happening right now. It's like del.icio.us...um...is.

I started using del.icio.us for the same reason I hadn't used del.icio.us before, I wanted people to be impressed by me. "Hey, look at me, I'm a linker!" That's how we separate the world, you know. Thinkers and linkers.

It's interesting that, in the past three years, I've seen trends come and go, but lately I've seen the rise of the blogosphere go from a blip on the radar of one guy writing his journal online, to taking down the CBS anchor, getting a Supreme Court, killing a port deal, and helping expose one of the biggest corruption scandals in the history of American politics. That genre's come a long way in three years.

I've come a long way, as well. Borne of my simple desire to control my own message board, I've cultivated not only a successful [Ahem - Ed.] alright, horribly unfruitful career from the internet, but I've also got an extremely large [Ahem - Ed.] small, but rabidly [Ahem - Ed.] mildly faithful audience. I've also got the most snide, nosiest editor on the interwebs.

It was watching LOST tonight that made me think: I've been linking to stuff on my collection of websites for almost three years, and I've been working almost exclusively behind this desk for all that time, yet it never gets boring, and I never want to stop. If there is one thing I could do for the rest of my life, it's link to stuff.

Thanks to del.icio.us, that linking is rather easy, and shared with the world. Plus, it doesn't go down every week or so (kidding TextDrive, you know I love you [He does not, he just wants you for your server space - Ed.]). The reason I was hesitant to use it in the first place was just because anybody could get your links. But, isn't that what I want?

This whole blogging thing's got a lot of good press, and I'm sure it's going to keep on going strong, I'm just not exited about it anymore. I did the comment thing, and that was over-rated. But the links...I'll never grow tired of links.

It's my calling.
