I’m hilarious.

I could stop there, but that wouldn’t explain why I have such a bizarre post title (or why I spent my Saturday putting together some PHP code). Like most of my stories, it all begins with be being incredibly jealous of the possessions of others.

There’s this site called Favrd that aggregates the favorites of Twitter folk. Star one your friend’s status messages, and wait for the glory that can only come from other people thinking you are funny. It’s a great idea, great concept, and it totally doesn’t work for me.

And by me I mean that while there’s a constant barrage of new locker–room style funny, it’s sort of a closed club. So if your name isn’t Merlin Mann, you’d better hope you have tickets to SxSW and enough money for lots of extra booze, or nobody’s gonna care about what you tweet.

Am I complaining about this? No. This is more like whining like a spoiled child. But whiney sniveling is the mother of invention, so I got my Junior Coder 2nd Class hat on and came up with something I think you’ll really like.

What I wanted to do was show the world just what a hoot I am with my witticisms. And then people would invite me to their parties and I would be popular and everybody would like me. That would all come about because of a PHP script I put together called “Randm™” for your browser’s bookmarks bar.

I set this up to go to all my righteously hilarious writings on Twitter. Once people see that, they’ll think, “man, I was wrong about that John guy. He’s pretty okay. I guess I won’t cut his brake lines.”

Then I’ll live, and that makes me very happy.
