A long time ago, in a galaxy, far, far away...somebody told me to buy OmniWeb. This would be something that comes up every 15 minutes with Dan, who I'm convinced has as much a devotion to OmniWeb as I do to...whatever it is I'm so darn in love with. Shiny objects, I guess. I love them shiny objects. As I was thinking about shiny things, I figure I'd go ahead and waste the $9.95, and do something I haven't done in the 11 years I've been browsing the web: use a paid-for browser. Granted, OmniWeb's not Safari, and that's both a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing, in that it's about 8 zillion times quicker on the draw with javascript and whatnot, and a bad thing in that it's not Safari. I thought I'd whip up a list of things I'm going to complain about until they get them fixed, or until I realize I just paid money for a browser.

John's gripey list of complaints

1. What's the deal with the RSS? Looks like I'm back to right-clicking and copying and pasting to get it into NetNewsWire. They gotta do something about this, since it's not as good of behavior as Internet Explorer. Wrap your head around that in good conscience. 2. Why no tabs above the windows? Just a gripe, but my image-thingees on the side are nice, and all, but my eyes wanna see all the tabs on top. Just a gripe, you see. 3. I use the (now unfindable) experimental popup version of the del.icio.us link script, and I found out that it gets blocked by the built-in pop-up blocker. Same for the Ma.gnolia scripts, and everybody else. I had to totally disable pop-up blocking to get anything to work. 4. As I was buying this thing, I was greeted with this option to put in a sales code: Ah, come on, where's the discount? I remember seeing something about some sort of sale or something, but I can't remember where. Something like, oh, you could get some money off for something something November something. You'd think they would make their sales more obvious. 5. Honestly, OmniMarmoset, it's been like, 2 months or something! Do they just have no engineering department or something? (Never let it be said I won't take a throw-away gag and beat that joke around the neck and shoulders into a bloody pulp) Okay, so, Dan, OmniPeople, I'm in ur browser, stealin' ur interwebs. Just don't give me a reason to regret buying this thing.
