People have often inquired about what goes on inside my mind. They seem to think that there’s a veritable treasure trove of knowledge and understanding. I constantly want to tell them that if they were to ever get inside my thinking, they really wouldn’t like it.

No, not because I’m all that crazy, or that I have deep, horrifying mental scars that continue to haunt my every thought. It’s that getting behind the curtain (if you will) would ruin the mystique I’ve somehow garnered as being a logical thinker and technologist. While trying to get a mess of melted chocolate frozen foodstuffs cleaned up, I had yet another interesting dialog in my head.

VIMH 1:1 What’s your favorite holiday?

VIMH 2: What’s the one with dancing bears in it?

VIMH 1: There’s no holiday with dancing bears in it.

VIMH 2: Then I don’t have a favorite holiday.

Someday I hope to find a way to get this constant running monolog to stop. I also hope to get it to stop using so darn many contractions. If you ever wonder why it seems like I’m a little distracted, it’s because I have to put up with stuff like this all the time.

  1. FOOTNOTE 1: VIMH is an acronym for ‘Voice In My Head.’ Not to be confused with ‘Visitor In My Head’, which, as the voices in my head chided me as I was writing this, would just make me sound crazy.
  2. FOOTNOTE 2: I recognize, with no amount of irony, that I am now using footnotes after badmouthing footnotes. Footnotes rule (until next week, that is, when I’ll hate them again).
