This is not a serious review. It is fun.

Since IÂ’m feeling kind of wild, I thought IÂ’d talk about something near and dear to myself, comedy. A person with such a great deal of denial and angst needs to be able to cope with life somehow. I choose comedy. And large buckets of chicken.

So here is, in my opinion, the 10 BEST COMEDIES OF ALL TIME

10. WhatÂ’s Eating Gilbert Grape

Amazing indie flick had 3 count-‘em three of my least liked actors in it. Leonardo DiCaprio, that Edward Scissorhands guy, and the girl from Natural Born Thrillers, uh I mean Killers. It was a dark comedy, ok?

9. IÂ’ll Spit on Your Grave

Bizarre exploitation flick I accidentally got during the sword & sorcery craze of the early 1980s. This girl get revenge on these guys that raped her by having sex with them and killing them in the act. Made in grainy color for added realism.

8. My dating life

The category is Ten Best Comedies, and nothing is funnier than mine. Or sad really.

7. Mystery Science Theater 3000

Growing up in Ohio, I watched the fledgling Comedy Channel with itÂ’s line-up of lame comedy shows, but one stood out from the crowd. Sure they were lame movies, but there where 2 robots and a captive worker there making snide remarks, just like I would.

6. Duck Soup

The Marx Brothers made this movie 60 years before the Airplane! movies and Police Squad! TV shows came on, and they are still funnier and more frantic than anything IÂ’ve ever seen.

5. The Clinton Administration

As a registered Republican, all IÂ’m gonna say about this is, letÂ’s hope Al Gore doesnÂ’t get elected, cause we donÂ’t need any more wood in the Oval Office.

4. Babe

Talking pigs and singing mice. It takes me back to days growing up in Canada, working as a dairy farmer. I think I was a dairy farmer. We had a silo, I distinctly remember that.

3. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

This takes me back to my early days when I was raised by public television in Wisconsin. A combination of Monty Python month on Cinemax and repeat broadcasts of Flying Circus grew my passion for this goofy movie. And the Knight who used to say Ni! didnÂ’t hurt either.

2. Groundhog Day

This is my favorite movie of all time. It has spawned countless copies, but none come close to this wity, well-acted movie.

But is not the best comedy of all timeÂ…
1. Showgirls

Sure it killed that Saved By the BellÂ’s girlÂ’s career, but was there ever a funnier movie than this? The whole time I looked for the silhouette of Tom, Crow and Joel.

This movie was so amazingly bad that another movie, Striptease with Demi Moore, got no attention because it actually was a comedy. Bad acting and blatantly prolonged shots of naughty things make me glad I saw this one.
