Thanks to one of seemingly a zillion links from Joyuer, my explanation of how to make you some affiliate ads for Joyent products is already one of the top ten read posts from MacStansbury.com in the past two months. It was surprising, and I'm gracious, but I felt a little weirded-out that somebody would think something I did was all that good.

Call it my insecurity. Call it me not being an a-lister. Call it my hope that it's not the first step in the legal process. Call it what you will.

Yesterday I called myself something of a Joyent shill, and I thought I'd finish off what I meant. Since getting to be one of the VCII folks with TextDrive, I've watched as the opportunity to get a Mixed Grill came along, and I got to use all the great new Joyent goodness. That, Strongspace, and my boring old TextDrive account have been real boons to my professional credentials.

Seriously, it's in there, in the assets portion of my resumé. I've acquired a generous lifetime allotment of email, web hosting, and a place to steal away several gigabytes of the finest pornography.

If I had any pornography.

If I was into that sort of thing.

Which I'm not.

Honest.

Anyways, why would I put it in a secure location, like in Strongspace, when I'd want to share it with the world? Hello! Not on a Bingo! disk, here. Duh!

Anyways, I was well on my way to creating my own dorky version of the DECK on that very day, when they told me I could make some actual cash money off it. Honestly, I'd already stolen acquired the images, and was going to put in something like that. I was testing with Google AdSense ads just to see how I could space things up on different browsers.

To get back to what I was thinking when I started writing this, I really like Joyent. I like them so much, I bought the company planned on giving them free advertising, and they went ahead and gave me a way to make money. That's why I love these guys, and that's why I'm happy to pitch their goods.
