Iterations
In what I hope to be something that’ll last for a while, I am working on the next version of Meadow Hill. This will be the most simple version I’ve produced since people started using white as the default background color. But it will also serve to function as I intended the site to be built back in 2001: like a book.
One of the qualities I really admire about Apple.com is the way the pages look like catalogs of days gone by. Wide as the screen, without any wasted motion. It’s the attention to detail, as well as the form that I find so appealing.
What I like most, though, is the fact that it is completely un-blog-like. Other than the recent news page, nothing is put in reverse-chronological order with dates and links. It is a place to show off their wares, not a place begging for links.
So, soon, the most simple site I’ve ever created.
