never ask me for tech support

I've been ridiculously creative lately. This is just another example of me being silly. I think it has something to do with me having a cold, or hay fever, or possibly the plague. "Wash those rats before you let them lick peanut butter off your tongue." Oh, if I'd only heeded those words. Instead, I've probably developed an allergy to peanut butter. Such a fool am I! I've been thinking about a great many things, lately. Giant radioactive monsters, rent, intercontinental travel, and the Zune. None of these are things that fully contain my interest, but none of them escape it. It's this scattered interest that makes me more interesting, but harder to follow. Monday, I watched the first full episode of Heroes. I spent a while looking for BitTorrents for "Heros," because that's how you're supposed to spell the multiple of "Hero." According to even Apple's built-in spell-checker, both "Heros" and "Heroes" are acceptable spellings. Not to go all English school-teacher-y, but I think they need to change the name of that school. Or apologize to Dan Quayle. The built-in spell-checker says "potatos" is misspelled. These are the kinds of things I think about when my co-coder's off being married or something, my nurse-lady's off saving lives or something, and my USC grad student's off not stealing her neighbor's WiFi. Dumb, honest, non-stealing grad student! No, I'm left alone with my thoughts. This is a dangerous thing.

An aside on 'zen'

I added the 'zen' tag to MacStansbury.com for a reason. As I was building this site, I wanted a quick way to browse the archives. That lead to me using the K2 template, and that led to me using some creative hacks to bring out the site's identity. Part of that identity is crafting a look and feel that's uniquely my own. I could either do that with the template design (not a designer), or with some special widgetry (I use plugins, I don't make 'em), or possibly with well-written articles (I think we all know the answer to that). I think I've achieved part of all of those, if only in a small, subtle way. The WordPress template here is obviously K2, but it's not quite K2, it's definitely different. I have a plethora of plugins and hacks, but they are (hopefully) presented in a way so they blend together. I have my own unique writing style, whatever it is, it's me. Sometimes pedantic, always random, and frequently confusing. That's just how I roll. Let's just hope I don't keep on having all this free time, or I'm gonna really lay on with the psychoanalysis. Trust me, you'd much rather hear me rant on Mothra than do that.
