In the past week I kept on making things that automate the stuff I usually take weeks to do. Not that I couldn't do it, it's that I couldn't do it that fast. Or that cheaply. Or even at all, because the technology wasn't there yet.

For instance, PageFind. Plain-text search just works now. No server necessary, no big investment in a giant mega-corporation just to get your site indexed.1 It just runs.

Back in 2006, that would have changed my little world. Now, it's a couple lines of code. We live in a marvelous age.

But it's got an explanation. It's AI. AI is doing all this heavy lifting. AI is making everything easier to do, work on, and finish. If you can't make something to work on the internet today you aren't looking in the right places.

That's what I found out about when I was working on some of my self-appointed projects. As I was trying to find new plugins and themes for a website, I kept noticing the whole I BOUGHT A 40 INCH MONITOR AND I WANT THE WHOLE SCREEN FILLED kind of web design. Since when did 1 inch tall fonts become a thing?

Oh. Right,

It's a default template made by AI. Oh, I know, I've used it as well. And after you see it a few times, you notice it all. The emojis, the bulleted lists, the microscopic fonts beside the fonts that block out the sun. That was the breaking point for me.

And now I'm like "yep, recognize that" "yep that was AI" well. The nextt frontier is gonna be acting like you aren't Ai now. anyways, I just want to welcome our new environment-destroying overlords.
